State Member for Hastings, Neale Burgess, today announced Lillie Bickerton of Baxter Primary School as the inaugural winner of the Neale Burgess MP Christmas Card Competition.
Students from Primary Schools in the Hastings electorate were invited to submit a design which would feature on the cover of Neale’s Christmas cards for 2009.
“We wanted students to create a design that reflected what Christmas meant to them and their families” said Mr Burgess.
“We had an outstanding response to the competition, receiving over 350 entries from 10 schools”.
Lillie Bickerton today received her award as the overall winner in the competition in front of her Year 2 class at Baxter Primary School.
“It was a tough decision with so many outstanding entries, but Lillie’s work was an excellent design and a fantastic representation of what Christmas means to her”.
“It was great to see the range of entries especially as this was the first year the competition was run”.
All entrants will receive a Certificate of Achievement, with some outstanding entries receiving a Highly Commended award.
