Bays Aged Care Facility: redevelopment
01-June-2011
On Thursday, 12 May, I attended a redevelopment planning session at the Bays Aged Care Facility in Hastings. The Bays Aged Care Facility is a not-for-profit organisation which has been growing in size and improving the quality of its service. It is now a 75-bed aged-care facility which offers both high-care and low-care accommodation. It currently houses 42 people with high-care needs, many of whom have varying degrees of dementia. The Bays Aged Care Facility plays an essential role in meeting the health-care demands of the community, and this redevelopment project is central to the continuing provision of these critical services.
Demand for high-care and low-care services is increasing significantly and will continue to do so in coming years and decades.
I commend the board and the manager, Helen Page, for both the crucial services they provide and the hard work they are doing to ensure that they are able to continue to provide them.
