Stony Point Line Snags Horrible Results

The Stony Point train line has recorded some of the worst results for reliability and punctuality in the state, with the most recent figures showing the service is not meeting its targets.

Metro Trains on the Stony Point line would have fallen far short of their new targets during peak hour services since the election of the Andrews Labor Government.

The new targets are 98.5% for reliability and a further 92% for punctuality.

Shortly after the Andrews Government took office, in January 2015, reliability for the Stony Point line was 99.3%, today that figure sits at a new low of 82.4%.  A drop of 16.9% points under Labor.

To add insult to injury, punctuality of the service also needs addressing.  In January 2015, the figures for this performance indicator sat at 96.4%.  Today, that figure is a measly 83.2%, a drop of 13.2%!

What this shows is the government is ignoring the townships of the Mornington Peninsula who rely on this service on a daily basis to get to and from work.

Public Transport only seems to be an issue for the government if it affects their inner-city seats under threat from the Greens.

The people of the Mornington Peninsula expect better and deserve reliable, efficient and safe public transport.  Not a second rate service delivered by Labor.

Quotes attributable to Neale Burgess MP, Member for Hastings:

“The Andrews Government has seen dramatic decreases in reliability and punctuality rates across Metro Train services, but none are as profound and devastating than those in our community.”

“People in my electorate rely on these services and expect them to be on time, punctual, clean, efficient and safe.  Unfortunately, the Andrews Labor Government have stopped caring for the Western Port townships”.
