44 breaches of bail have occurred locally in townships including Langwarrin and Hastings in the past year, with Hastings alone recording 23 breaches!

Local Member for Hastings, Neale Burgess called on Labor Premier, Daniel Andrews to immediately act to fix the bail system fiasco engulfing Victoria.

Daniel Andrews has promised to fix the bail system in this state, but he has again failed.

Ten months after the Bourke St tragedy, the Premier is still yet to respond to what our community is calling for.  It’s time for action!

To add insult to injury, the Attorney-General, Martin Pakula has recently labelled the latest figures as “welcome”.

Victoria’s bail system is broken and this government is continuing to expose the community to high risk people who may snap at any time, causing havoc in and around our local townships. Only a Liberal Government led by Matthew Guy will fix Victoria’s bail laws.

Quotes attributable to Neale Burgess MP, Member for Hastings:

“Daniel Andrews has refused to provide the police needed to open the Somerville Police Station and is refusing to fix the bail system. Daniel Andrews and Labor are soft on crime.”

“Daniel Andrews has shown time and again that keeping Victorian’s safe, is just not high on his list of priorities. Victorians are left at the mercy of violent and dangerous criminals under Labor.”

“How many more breaches of bail do there have to be before this Premier will take action? Labor policies have failed and are exposing Victorians”

“Residents of Langwarrin, Somerville and Hastings have had enough and they should not have to worry about criminals being let loose back on the streets”.
