Make Victoria safe: Liberal Nationals to boost community safety in Langwarrin

A Liberal Nationals Government will focus on more police on the beat, tougher sentencing and $24 million for more local community safety measures like CCTV cameras in at risk areas across the Hastings Electorate.

Grants of up to $250,000 will be made available to local councils to develop public safety and security infrastructure like CCTV systems, improved lighting and creating local solutions to local crime.

Councils will be able to identify areas within their community such as park edges and shopping areas that attract a higher rate of crime and implement measures to stop anti-social behaviour.

Since Daniel Andrews was elected crime has increased 19.96%

This announcement follows other community focused crime prevention measures announced by the Liberal Nationals including:

  • Establishing highly visible Police shopfronts in 12 major shopping centres.
  • Re-establish a ‘Police in Schools’ program, to allow police to better engage with young Victorians.
  • Fund the establishment of a Victoria Police Mobile CCTV camera rollout and;
  • Commit $2 million over four years to Neighbourhood Watch for local crime prevention initiatives.

The Liberal Nationals are committed to ensuring all Victorians feel safe in their communities.

Comments attributable to Leader of the Opposition, Matthew Guy:

“A Liberal Nationals Government will make Victorians safe and feel safer.

This election Victorians will have a choice between more of the same soft approach from Daniel Andrews or the Liberal Nationals zero tolerance approach to violent criminals.”

Comments attributable to Neale Burgess MP, Member for Hastings

“CCTV cameras have a track record of deterring crime and assisting in the quick identification and arrest of criminals.

Daniel Andrews cut crime prevention funding, Matthew Guy will make it a priority.”
