Baxter High Traffic Noise Protection

Mr BURGESS (Hastings) (5998)

My question is directed to the Minister for Roads and Road Safety, and the information I seek on behalf of the Baxter community is about providing adequate high traffic noise protection for its residents.

Mornington Peninsula Reclassification

Mr BURGESS (Hastings)

I have written twice to the Premier about the importance of urgently reclassifying the Mornington Peninsula from being a part of metropolitan Melbourne to that of regional Victoria. I have also raised this important matter on three occasions in this chamber.

AGL Crib Point Gas Terminal Cancelled

Mr BURGESS (Hastings)

It was a major win for Crib Point and Mornington Peninsula residents when the Andrews government relented to public pressure and adopted Victorian Liberal policy to stop AGL installing a gas plant on the foreshore of Crib Point.

Covid Business Closures

Mr BURGESS (Hastings)

After battling through the first four Labor-induced lockdowns, the most recent fifth lockdown has finally rendered my Langwarrin constituent, Joe Fernandez, unable to continue running his business, Ming Zhu massage in Langwarrin.

COVID-19 Alpha Strain in Victoria

Mr BURGESS (Hastings)

While Premier Andrews likes to point to NSW and say, ‘What a mess’, we should never lose sight of the fact that while most states have struggled with COVID delta, only Victoria lost control of COVID alpha and more than 800 people tragically lost their lives as a result.

Fire Services Workplace Safety

Mr BURGESS (Hastings) (5979)

My adjournment matter is for the Minister for Emergency Services, and the action I seek is for the minister to immediately implement a best-practice complaints resolution process for our hardworking volunteer fire fighters.

AGL Crib Point Gas Terminal Adjournement

Mr BURGESS (Hastings) (17:22): (5725) On Monday, 8 February, Shadow Minister for Energy and Renewables Ryan Smith and I announced that a Liberal Victorian government would prevent AGL from developing a gas import terminal at Crib Point. The Andrews government’s senseless and ideological moratorium on onshore gas exploration led to Victorians being hit with a 125 per cent rise in their gas prices between 2014 and 2019, and now Daniel Andrews wants the residents of Crib Point to pay for that with industrialisation of their quiet coastal town.

Warneet Toilet Facilities

Mr BURGESS (Hastings) (5562)

My question is directed to the Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change, and the information I seek on behalf of my Warneet community is about funding to upgrade the toilet facilities at the Warneet Foreshore Reserve.

Somerville Police Station

Mr BURGESS (Hastings)

In late October I again called on the Minister for Police and Emergency Services to provide the police officers needed to open the Somerville police station. On many occasions I have raised the disgraceful conduct of this government in its continued refusal to provide the purpose-built Somerville police station with the police it needs to open and protect its local community.

Bittern Train Station

Mr BURGESS (Hastings)

I seek the assistance of the Minister for Public Transport to direct Metro Trains Melbourne to remove dumped rubbish around the four community charity bins located at the Bittern railway station on the Stony Point line.
