There is a growing community need for the installation of a disability toilet in the southern toilet block.
There are many visitors from specialist/disability schools and aged-care facilities to the Warneet picnic/BBQ area and adjoining south jetty who have a need for a disability toilet.
The current toilet facility is located within the Warneet Foreshore Reserve, which is land owned by the state government and managed by a committee of management.
The City of Casey provides the cleaning service for the facility under its public toilet maintenance policy; however, it has advised that it is not responsible for any renewal of or upgrades to this state infrastructure.
Consistent with Casey’s commitment to access and inclusion, it has advised that it supports the upgrade of this infrastructure to an accessible facility and advocates for state funds to achieve this important upgrade.
We must assist these special needs, disabled and aged-care visitors through this upgrade, and therefore the Warneet community requests the state to undertake these works at the earliest possible time.
I seek the minister’s urgent assistance with this matter.
